Located along the Guyandotte River, West Hamlin is a town in Lincoln County, West Virginia. The population was 696 at the 2000 census. It is one of Lincoln County's two municipalities.  The town was established in 1871 and incorporated in 1947.   State roads West Virginia 10 and West Virginia 3 intersect in West Hamlin.

West Hamlin consists of various businesses and restaurants.

The local government in West Hamlin consists of a town recorder, town council, and police department. West Hamlin also has a volunteer fire department.
